LABOR DAY

Kylie and Quinn both have one more day left....they will use it wisely...you'll see.

Zak spent the day working out the details for our family FOOTBALL Fantasy.

I am not sure what Quinn did.

Kylie had remnants of a headache, and she worked for Dad, folding and labeling a mailing.

Dad got stung by a BEE! He didn't even scream, but he did say it hurt. I had to pull out the stinger. He got stung on his back!

I read, went swimming and shopped at Walmart.

Griffin did what I did.

Day 75 - Sun, Sept 2nd

SUNDAY

I just heard a weird crinkling noise. Everyone is in bed - Dad is reading to Q & Z - what could the noise be. I hunt it out and find Coco has put his nose in a small potato chip bag and it is stuck. I should have hunted my camera down and got a picture, but I just yanked it off his head instead.

Church - 103 degrees - home - ate sandwiches - too hot to BBQ - cooked corn on the cob - made potato salad - watched a bad mormon movie - "Anxiously Engaged" - Kylie has had a headache most of the day - hmm - Zak says he needs a new backpack and plenty of cheap folders for school - that's it.

Oh where is the summer going?? Our days are numbered!

Kylie spent the night last night over at Lydia's...she stayed there all day today.

Quinn had a soccer game early this morning. He played forward and mid-field.

Zak played a football scrimage in 108 degree heat at 5:00pm.

Griffin found some treasures in Chase's room.

Dad went over to the Christensen's to watch the BYU game.

I had a stake baptism.

Remember, fast sunday tomorrow!!

Christopher - had the usual experience at the DMV

Steven - finally finished his house cleaning for pay!

Chase - got a new computer monitor, (really the 3rd one, the 1st two had ruined pixels), he also got a new hamper and bed pad all for college. He went out with Jake Melton and Mike Miller tonight to Hometown Buffet and then to hit golf balls. What a day!

Zachary - football only once today, then went out to dinner with Jared's family.

Quinn - soccer practice

Kylie - bought new shoes today, brown keds, invited Sariah Luna over had fun

Griffin - went on Mommy's errands, screamed at Target, went to bed early!

Mom - had a meeting about pre-school, took people places, made taco salad for dinner, then cookies, very yummy, trying to get used to 3 boys leaving for school!

Dad - work, work, work, helped Chase with his monitor

Day 69 - Mon, Aug 27th

Kylie, Griffin and I went to the library to pick out some books. We were all successful. Kylie got 6, but she is starting with "Just Grace". So far so good.

I came home and took Griffin and Chase shoe shopping. They were both quite succesful too.

I came home and napped, so worn out. Then Kylie, Griffin and I went swimming - I also cleaned out the pool filter.

Steven took his own self shopping while he waited for 4 new tires to be put on his car.

Chase went over to Russel's to play video games.

All the boys played doda.

Spaghetti for dinner

Don't watch "Wild Hogs", not worth it, we started, then stopped and made malts till no one could drink any more.

Chase received the Melchezidek Priesthood. He is an Elder now.

I made Quinn's birthday cake, chocolate cake with marshmellow frosting.

Griffin wet the bed, but told me that Heavenly Father told him that he could still have TOO.

At our first stop on the cruise, Hilo Hawaii, Gill was going to take Candice on a lovely little hike. We all invited ourselves along...

As it turned out, it was a VERY steep hill down and back up. In the middle was a beautiful beach.

Today, I woke up and began my errands at 8:00 am. I found out that Christopher was on his way home, YEA!!

We tried to play volleyball at the YMCA, but found out old men by tradition were the only ones who could use the court. Steven is trying to make a plan to force the old men out.

I told the boys that they could not eat dinner if they did not have their LIST done. They all got their list done...really, they did not get their piano done, which they will make up for tomorrow.

Then just before dinner, CHRISTOPHER came home.

I just went back to his room to take his picture to put on the blog, but I see his door is closed! He has gone to sleep!! It is 9:31pm. He must be tired. So this is the only picture we will get of him....really just his door. Griffin is well again. Happy and eating.

Griffin woke up sick today. He is throwing up. We found Scooby Doo on TV to watch. Everyone else went to church.

I played soccer on Saturday - had a little fall. We won. Steven, Chase and Zak all did a bit of work for Dad. Chase and Zak played in a Stake softball game. Kylie played at the Jensen's all day. Spaghetti for dinner.

Drove home from Idaho ALL DAY!

We stopped and ate at Denney's in Baker. Steven drank way too many hot chocolates for 104 degrees outside. He felt sick later.

We got home and had to break into our own house. I finished breaking the glass out of a window pane that Kylie broke with a wiffle ball months before. Then Kylie got help crawling through the window and let us into the hot, skunk smelling house. There was no skunk in the house, it just apparently passed by.

Some in Utah - Bumpa made pancakes, Nana and I did the Home Tour for 8 hours (SO FUN), Quinn, Kylie and Griffin played 36 holes of miniature golf with Bumpa, then they went to McDonald's, then to a Ward Party. Fun was had by all.

Dad, Steven, Zak and Chase all drove up to Idaho - the air conditioning broke on the way, not so fun.

Today was another Raging Waters day. Very fun.

We took Lydia and Natalie with us. We added a new ride to mine and Griffin's route.

Steven and I went to our Tennis class - yes, he got the most points again, and we played singles and he beat me handily.

Steven also went camping with Josh Shapiro. He will be back on day 32, Saturday.

Kylie got a phone call from Lydia inviting her to Raging Waters. She was there from 12:30 - 6:00pm. She said she had a great time, and the lines were VERY long.

Zachary went to football as usual.

I saw Andrea Evans, the TV soap star, while eating at Outback Steakhouse with Kerry. It was quite exciting.

Chase rode his bike down the Foothills Middle School at 2:00, in the heat of the day, to do a bit of cardiovascular exercise. Then he came home to work on his on-line BYU class.

Lots going on....

1st - Raging Waters!

We are getting pretty good at this. This picture is on the way over. I think all the "bigs" rode all the rides, then we were done. Quinn did a ride called Wave rider. It simulates surfing. Quinn did great! I also made Griffin ride the Thunder Rapids. He cried the whole time, but it was still fun for me.Later that night, Christopher, Steven and I went drove down to Laguna to see the

Pageant of the Masters.

Apparently, I bought seats on the last row. It worked out just fine. We all used binoculars.These were our two favorite works of art: Blind Man's Bluff by Fransico de Goya

Zachary organized a Ward Flag Football game between the Elder's Quorum and the YM.

It was a nice turn out and in the end, the YM won by 1/2 a point.

Golf lessons! Zak, Kylie and Quinn all had their first golf lesson. They will go every Saturday in July for one hour.

When they got home, most everyone went swimming.

I worked all day on a great sewing project, which I will blog about when it is done. It is fabulous!

enjoyed it. He did win the most points
out of all our class

Day 18 - Thurs, July 5

Today Zak had to get a physical so he can be eligible to play Football in the fall. He is a fine specimen, very healthy. The doctor, who loves to offer shots, offered Zak two. I passed the decision to Zak, he said, YES, I will take the shots. One, a tetanus, the other 1 of 2 vaccinations for hepatitis A. There is his band-aide for his two shots.

Then it was off to GOLF! First we all hit some balls - then Zak, Steven, Kylie and Kerry played 9 holes.

Happy 4th of July

We went to our usual Ward Breakfast. It was filling and nice.

Boys went swimming - Griffin took a way-too-late nap.

I made hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and potato salad.

Tonight we will go to a fireworks show, I'm sure it will be good.

Boys talked about going golfing tomorrow - hope they get to go.

Day 16 - Tues July 3

STEVEN'S HOME!!

Steven got home very late last night - he went to bed and in the morning this is what I heard:

I feel like I came home to a third world country! My bed is low to the ground (the bed which everyone loves), I have no sheet, I found 5 dog poops on the carpet, there are brown spots all over! My room is like sleeping in a tent, it is the same temperature as the outside.

I have now steam cleaned his carpet...the dog poops are picked up...I will put a sheet on his bed. Don't worry, Christopher, when you get home things will be great. Good idea sending Steven on ahead as a scout.

Kylie is at her Achievement Days Activity.

We are going to eat at Paco's tonight, after Zak's football at Arcadia High.

Day 15 - Mon July 2

I can't believe it is ONLY the 15th day. I feel lucky!

WE'VE GOT OURSELVES A CLEAN HOUSE TODAY!

While I slept, I came up with these rules:

Monday Rules:
1. You have 60 minutes to wake-up, use the
computer, go potty, eat, do as you wish.

You may use this time all together, or separate.
We are on the honor system.

You are NOT required to take your 60 minutes, only if
you want it.

WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED YOUR TIME, OR ARE READY TO START – BEGIN HERE:

2. Pick up YOUR things ALL around the house.
- including luggage
-anything that is yours
-anything you put there
- including your clean laundry

3. Clean and vacuum your assigned room

4. If there is dog poop in y0ur area, pick it up.

5. You may take a 10 minute break every
30 minutes of cleaning. Honor system here.

6. NO WHINING, or complaining…..just do it

7. I know this is not your favorite thing, but we NEED to do this

8. If you read this from the computer and you put this paper up, when you are done, put the paper down, back OVER the computer screen.

It worked Great - clean house, mostly. Boys and Kylie swimming now, Griffin sleeping. Zak has football a little later. Steven is on his way home! Good day.

Slept in our own beds, I enjoyed sleeping under my NEW summer quilt....ahh. Kylie was invited to Brianna's birthday part, while they purposely had on Saturday so she could come. Chase keeps asking for everyone to put away their luggage! It is in his way.

Griffin was bored, he asked if he could take a few pictures with my camera. I said ok. Here are a few self-portraits.

I found a GREAT book on tape....our trip wasn't long enough...we are still listening at home. We highly recommend it.

While we were driving home, Kerry sent us a picture from his phone....of Chase drinking a Pina Colada from Pacos. We were jeaolous.

Day Eleven - Thurs, June 28th

On our LAST day in Utah, I thought I had better get sewing on my quilt. I had some good assistance - Quinn and Kylie.

Kylie quite enjoyed her ironing and she did a great job.

Griffin told me he was dirty and smelly and he needed a bath!

When Kylie was done ironing, she discovered a great computer game - pinball. She got herself in 1st place.

Day Ten - Wednesday

Today we had an adventure on the Utah Trax. Nana, Quinn, Kylie, Griffin and I took the trax into Salt Lake to have lunch with Bumpa at work. We had a nice time. We
took pictures.

After our lunch and pictures, we took the same train home, yet it did not take us home. We went a bit out of our way, but we certainly understand the trax much better now.

this is zak, mom says I have to say what we do for football. We wake up at 7:00 A.M to go eat breakfast. then at 8:45 we go to our first football session. Every session is pretty much the same. we get in lines and stretch. we stretch for a long time, it is kinda dumb. then everyone goes to a group depending on their age and offensive position (I go with the freshman receivers). then we do drills, like running routes and catching the ball, practicing our starting stance and running out of it. then we get into groups with our defensive positions, and do more drills. we do lots of running backwards in defense. then we go do "1 on 1" where all the freshman receivers, corner backs and quarterbacks go in a group. the quarterback tells the receiver the play then the receiver runs it, while the corner back tries to stop him. I do some of the "1 on 1" on defense and some on offense. finally we do 7 on 7. which i basically 2-hand-touch football with no blockers (it is also 4 Mississippi's to sack). the whole 7 on 7 thing is a big tournament, my team kinda stinks (are record is 1-2-1). the food here is good, chocolate milk is excellent. Killer really liked the dance. Thats all.

Day Nine - Tuesday XXX

This is also Zak's second day of Football camp. I saw him, he said he was having a good time, it was hot, no he had not thrown up. Success. He is anxious about setting up his utopia game.

So, after spotting Zak, and talking with him for a bit, then we went over to Christopher and Steven's apartment. They took us over to the BYU campus and we all went bowling! It was fun. Steven, Christopher and I bowled on one lane, Quinn, Kylie and Griffin bowled on another lane. Steven won the first game and just as I was about to lose the 2nd game, on my last turn I bowled a strike! Then I got to have 2 more turns and I got 2 more strikes. Very exciting. In bowling - that is a turkey.

Christopher won that game, I was just happy not to be creamed.

Then we went to lunch at the Brick Oven. Then back to our own places.

Day Eight - Monday, June 25 again

Nana, Bumpa, Kylie, Griffin, Quinn and I all went to a buffet called Chuck-a-Rama. We ate great food.

Zak started his BYU Football camp! It seemed like there were 1000 boys there and I found Zak and secretely took his picture!

Before he got to camp, Christopher and Steven took his to a yummy place for breakfast - Kneader's.

Day Seven, Sunday June 24th

Sunday at Nana's and Bumpa's: church, hot, bumpa spoke, we sang "I stand All Amazed" at a nice pace, saw Christopher and Steven, ate a nice dinner, cut Christopher's hair, played a hot game of 4 square, watched a movie, went to bed.

Driving to Utah - all day...

Going for Zak's BYU football camp!

Chase and Dad stayed home.

Christopher told me he would teach me how to pack in 2 minutes, lessons are $50/hr. How nice.

Fifth Day June 22

My first day at tennis lessons. It was fun! Christopher will be joining me and I am deciding if I should hi-jack Zak. I think he will really enjoy it too...he just feels like it won't be fun.

Packing to drive to Utah tomorrow.

Boys and Kylie moved rocks and brick from one house to another.

Zak had another day at football camp.

Day Four June 21

BEACH DAY!

A picture tells 1,000 words - even if the pictures ARE in a different order than the author put them in, and it is too frutstrating to try to figure out why, or try to fix them, arg!

Day Three June 20

Today - no McDonald's for breakfast, but we did go to Raging Waters! That was very fun. We got season passes last year for a great price that also included this year.

Kylie spent most of her time with her brothers - she did what they did.

The lines were NOT long!

Griffin and I played in all the "little people" pools.

I learned today that Kylie loves whatever she is doing and is NEVER ready to go.

We will return though.

Zak is having another great day at Football Camp.

Griffin napped, so that means I will be up till midnight.

Day Two June 19

Today I almost had to babysit 3 extra little children. Just one hour before they were to come, the mother called me with a reprieve! I have never been so happy. I guess her original babysitter figured out a way to do it for her. So, I did laundry, not as much as I would have liked, but getting any done is good in my book.

Chase got called and he got to go jet skiing with the Miller's and Jake Melton and Forest Reed. He had a great time and came home and told dad that we really needed to get one of those.

Quinn, Kylie and Griffin and Kerry all went swimming - I watched and played my Nintendo DS.

We had McDonald's for breakfast again because Chase felt bad he missed it the day before.

Zak had another good day at football camp. No throwing up.

Zak and Quinn had scouts, where they played volleyball and enjoyed themselves there too.

Two great days in a row!!

Day One June 18

First day of summer....what did we do...

I had my birthday lunch, one week late with girlfriends: Jane Colton, Angie Jensen and Sharron Luna. We ate at Paco's. It was all yummy. Kerry came and surprised me with a Pina Colada! That was so nice and yummy too. I offered to share, but no one tried it...maybe they felt like just the presence of evil, who knows, I LOVED it and the thoughtfulness too.

Chase slept in as long as his body would let him.

Quinn asked on Sunday if we could have McDonald's for breakfast on this day, so that is what we had, very good...easy clean-up.

Quinn played is gameboy all day.

Zak went to his first day of Arcadia High School football camp. It was 2 hours. And he really liked it.

All the boys and Kylie went swimming in the afternoon too.

It was a good day.
